FORMAT.DANCE
This workshop aims to give dancers a glimpse into the world of professional modern dance. Students will have the opportunity to take class with and learn choreography from guest artist, Caitlin Mahon as her company prepares for an upcoming performance in New York.
Dancers are invited to participate in modern technique and partnering/repertory classes with the company. Mahon will lead the class through an efficient yet rigorous movement experience where students will be given the opportunity to physically try on her movement aesthetic. “Prepare to rebound, fly, invert, slide, suspend, toss, jump, and sustain your body,” Mahon states, “We will locomote our beings efficiently, ferociously, and unapologetically throughout the space.”
Format Dance is committed to facilitating accessible workshops, including our Guest Artist series, in a continued effort to provide holistic and accessible dance training to local communities. Special thank you to YSOD director, Tracy McManus for her continued partnership with Format Dance and for providing the space and resources necessary to make this workshop possible.
